The Listening Guide

🎶 The listening guide: five albums, released during the past twelve months, chosen around a weekly theme ðŸŽ¶

This week, we extend our ‘tributes and continuations’ theme with five new albums in honour of jazz greats. The Nimmons Tribute hears Phil Nimmons’ former students, colleagues, friends and family members honouring the Canadian jazz veteran with touching renditions of his music, whilst the other four projects hear contemporary artists paying tribute to the late greats Gene Ammons, Art Blakey, Buddy Montgomery, and Chet Baker.

The Nimmons Tribute – To The Nth

Brandon Allen – The Gene Ammons Project

Gaz Hughes Sextet – Plays Art Blakey
