Ed Kainyek’s Hidden Gems Livestream

A saxophonist with an earthy and expressive style, Ed Kainyek, originally from Sierra Leone, has long been an established and respected figure on the Manchester Jazz scene. Performing at numerous Jazz festivals up and down the country he has also advised on up and coming talent as a member of the Manchester Jazz Festival panel, and for many years has hosted countless jam sessions, showcasing newcomers to the Manchester jazz scene. One of the highlights of this time was having the great Wynton Marsalis and other members of the Lincoln Centre Orchestra join his quartet on stage in Manchester. The quartet is now his primary focus, and with influences from Dexter Gordon to Joshua Redman, and Charlie Parker to Keith Jarrett he promises to deliver a healthy chunk of mainstream hard, swinging jazz with a hint of the contemporary, but always a good tune.
